Straight answers about pricing, payment, and what happens if something goes wrong.
For most jobs, yes โ it's an estimated price generated from our live rate card. For jobs flagged as needing a site visit (usually larger structural work), you'll see a tentative price and your contractor confirms the final figure on site before work begins.
You're never charged until you explicitly approve a quote. If it's not right for you, simply don't proceed โ there's no obligation and no cost for getting a quote.
Yes, every price shown includes GST.
You pay a small deposit to secure your booking, then the rest releases in milestones matched to the job โ a simple job might just be deposit and completion, while a bigger build adds stages like materials and framing. At each stage, your contractor submits evidence of the work and you review and approve it before any payment is charged. You're never asked to pay the full amount upfront.
For larger jobs (currently $20,000+), a dedicated MySubbies inspector reviews the completed work before it's marked complete in your tracker โ on top of your own review as the customer. It's an extra check, not a replacement for your right to flag a problem.
Yes, free of charge if a contractor hasn't accepted it yet. Once work has started, cancelling may incur a fee reflecting materials or work already committed โ this is assessed case by case, not a fixed penalty.
Contractors can request a variation if the scope genuinely changes, but nothing is ever charged without your explicit approval first.
Use the "Report a problem" option on your job in My Jobs, or message our support team directly through the app. We review every report and can pause payment release while it's investigated.
Every contractor's ABN, trade licence (where applicable), and public liability insurance are reviewed before they're approved onto the panel โ not just self-declared.
No. There are no lead fees and no bidding โ jobs matching your trade and service area are offered to you directly, exclusively, one at a time.
As the job progresses, not just at the end. Deposit and materials payments release early in the job, so you're not carrying the full cost of a project until completion.
Yes, any time, with no penalty. Declining doesn't affect your standing on the panel.
